In Ramator’s HAELOK user training, installers learn the fundamentals of the connection technology, correct pipe preparation, the use of press tools, installing the connection and inspecting the finished connection. The training combines theory with hands-on practice and prepares participants for correct and safe installation.

HAELOK is an all-metal press-fit connection technology that makes pipe connections possible without welding or hot work. The training follows the three stages of making a connection: Check – Install – Verify.

HAELOK connection technology: theory
- Structure and operating principle of the HAELOK fitting, and how the connection is formed by axial pressing
- Fitting materials, markings and traceability
- Requirements for the pipe and the installation
- Applications and key technical properties of the connection technology

Preparing the pipe and the connection
- Checking pipe dimensions and tolerances as well as roundness, surface condition and hardness
- Cutting the pipe correctly and cleaning its surface
- Removing cutting marks, dirt, paint and rust
- Proper treatment of the seam on welded pipe
- Marking the pipe correctly before installation

Using HAELOK press tools
- Selecting the right HAELOK press tool and dies for the pipe and fitting size, and fitting the dies
- Correct handling of the electro-hydraulic press tool
- Checking the tool’s condition, service needs and calibration; calibration every two years
- Recognising LED indications and fault situations
- Cleaning, lubricating and maintaining the tool

Making a press connection in practice
- Marking the pipe with the HAELOK marking tool
- Positioning the fitting correctly, and the correct position of the press tool’s jaws and dies
- Making sure the jaws are closed and locked before pressing
- Making a stress-free pipe connection and checking the installation markings before pressing
- Completing the pressing stage using the tool’s automatic function

Inspecting the finished connection
- Visual inspection of a successful pressing
- Checking that the installation markings on the pipe are visible
- Making sure the end faces of the fitting’s sleeve and body are flush
- Recognising an acceptable HAELOK connection
The training includes making a connection in practice: 1–3 pressings depending on the number of participants.
Training and certificate
At the end of the training, participants take a HAELOK multiple-choice test on a phone or computer. After passing the test, the installer is awarded a training certificate. The certificate is valid for three years. After passing the test, the trainee can download the training material.
Approval based on Ramator’s training and a passed test covers PED category 1 installations. Installations in PED categories 2–4 require approval from an external inspection body.
